Step 1 – Rough Honing
Coarse grit stones remove machining marks and quickly achieve the desired bore size.
Step 2 – Semi-Finish Honing
Medium grit stones improve bore geometry and reduce surface irregularities.
Step 3 – Finish Honing
Fine grit stones generate the required surface finish and dimensional accuracy.
Step 4 – Plateau Honing (Optional)
Ultra-fine abrasives create a plateau surface structure, improving lubrication retention and extending component life.
Our abrasive honing stones can achieve:
Surface Finish (Ra)
---
1.5 – 3.0 µm
0.8 – 1.5 µm
0.4 – 0.8 µm
0.2 – 0.4 µm
Below 0.2 µm (special applications)
Actual results depend on material, machine condition, coolant, and honing parameters.
