High-Performance Diamond Burnishing Solutions for Mirror Surface Finishing
Jain Precision Tools offers advanced Diamond Burnishing Tools engineered for achieving ultra-fine surface finishes, superior dimensional accuracy, and enhanced surface integrity on hardened and precision-machined components.
Diamond burnishing is a chipless cold-working process that plastically deforms microscopic surface peaks using a highly polished industrial diamond tip. The process generates a mirror-like surface finish while simultaneously improving surface hardness, fatigue strength, wear resistance, and corrosion resistance.
These tools are specially designed for burnishing external diameters (OD) of heat-treated components with hardness up to 65 HRC.
A Diamond Burnishing Tool is a precision finishing tool equipped with a single-crystal or polycrystalline diamond tip mounted in a spring-loaded or hydro-mechanical assembly. During operation, controlled pressure is applied against the rotating workpiece surface, causing plastic flow of the material peaks into valleys without material removal.
Unlike grinding, honing, or polishing, burnishing is a non-abrasive finishing process that enhances surface characteristics while maintaining dimensional integrity.
Mirror Surface Finish
Produces ultra-smooth finishes up to:
- Ra : 0.05 µm
- Rz : < 1 µm
Ideal for components requiring low friction and precision sealing surfaces.
Cold Working Technology
The burnishing process induces compressive residual stress, resulting in:
- Increased surface hardness
- Improved fatigue life
- Enhanced wear resistance
- Better corrosion resistance
High Precision Finishing
Achieves:
- Superior roundness
- Improved cylindricity
- Excellent dimensional consistency
Suitable for Hardened Materials
Effective on heat-treated materials up to:
- 65 HRC hardness
Applicable for alloy steels, tool steels, stainless steels, hardened shafts, and precision components.
Single Pass Operation
Delivers high-quality finish directly on CNC machines, reducing secondary finishing operations such as:
- Grinding
- Lapping
- Honing
- Manual polishing
Easy Machine Integration
Compatible with:
- CNC Lathes
- Turning Centres
- VMCs
- Special Purpose Machines
- Conventional Lathes
